Since 12 June 2014, the DSK works together with the 11 Air Assault Brigade in the Netherlands. It was renamed in 2003 from Army Air Corps Regiment 30 to Transport Helicopter Regiment 30, flying the UH-1D and in 2013 the remaining helicopter units of Transport Helicopter Regiment 10 with the NH90 TTH, Combat Helicopter Regiment 36 in Fritzlar with the Eurocopter Tiger and Regiment 30 with its UH-1Ds were placed under the command of the Division Schnelle Kräfte (DSK) in Stadtallendorf. Helicopter Regiment 30 was founded in April 1971 as Light Army Transport Regiment 30, located at Fritzlar Army Air Base. The first H145 LUH was handed over from Airbus Helicopters Donauwörth to the regiment at Niederstetten on Decemand the remaining six examples will be delivered in 2020, gradually taking over the SAR task. Regiment 30 first commenced NH90 flight operations to replace the ageing UH-1D fleet during 2016 and after it’s lengthy career of about 50 years, the UH-1D will say goodbye in 2021, following a farewell tour across Germany during 2020. The regiment currently operates three types of helicopters the Bell UH-1D, NH Industries NH90 and - since December 2019 - the Airbus H145 LUH SAR (Light Utility Helicopter Search and Rescue).
Regiment 30 is based at Niederstetten airbase and supports the combat forces with troop and supply transportation.
Wouter Haan visited the regiment and followed their work as unit personnel learned to fly the new type in the high mountains and gained experience flying on their own. Transport Helicopter Regiment 30 of the German Army Aviation Corps recently conducted a four-week altitude training course at Saillagouse, in the south of France among the mountains of the Pyrenees, and after many years flying the Bell UH-1D, this course provided the unit its first opportunity to carry out mountain-flying training in the NH90 TTH.
